French 75

French 75 Cocktail Recipe

A classic cocktail that has evolved over the years, the French 75 was first created by Henry Tepe at the legendary Henry's Bar in Paris in 1915.

Named after a light field gun famed for its ability to be portable and rapidity of fire, the French 75 original cocktail recipe was remarked to be, 'the most powerful drink in the world' by novelist Alec Waugh.

Originally designed with gin, applejack, lemon juice and grandine and served in a coupe glass, and then morphing into a long drink served in a collins glass in the 1930's when champagne was added before settling in the 1980's to a champagne flute.

The French 75 is an easy gin cocktail recipe that you can master at home and is the ideal welcome drink to serve to guests.
