Gimlet Cocktail Recipe

Named after the tapping tool found on barrels of spirits onboard British Naval ships in the 1800's, the Gimlet is a 3 ingredient classic cocktail that's as easy to drink as it is to make.

Whilst naval ratings were given rum rations, the officers drank the more refined option of gin and mixed it with the prescribed scurvy-beating lime juice (that had been preserved with sugar).

If you're into your cocktail lore then you should craft a Gimlet with a ration of 50:50 gin to lime cordial and drink it at room temperature (hard to find ice on ships back in those days) but we prefer it cold as per modern standards.
